Harveys Department Store (1946-1988)
Founded in 1942 by Fred Harvey Senior, Harveys department store was a true Nashville icon. His innovative marketing style included the first unconditional merchandise return policy, expanded hours on Christmas, celebrity appearances, flexible working hours, an indoor roller coaster, live monkey bar and a carnival like atmosphere.
The Harvey tradition lives on with granddaughter Amy Harvey’s Stock Market Fine Furnishings, and her brother Fred Harvey, Jr.’s Fredric & Petersen Collision Center in Franklin, Tennessee.
